The Chairman, Oyo State Post Primary School Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) Pastor Akin Alamu has given a comprehensive update about the cut off mark commission will fix before applicants that sat for CBT exams move to next stage of recruitment.
He gave the update while speaking with Mayor Isaac Brown of Fresh 105.9fm at a programme tagged “COVID-19 Update”.
Pastor Alamu while giving the summary of the recruitment said over 67,000 applicants participated in the CBT exercise.
“It was a challenge but God sees us through. Though, people were sceptical how about the conduct of the exam despite COVID-19 challenge. We were fully prepared in terms of security, health officer were on ground, ambulance were well station for emergency. We had three new born babies during the CBT exercise.”
“Applicants participated in 19 teaching subjects. The highest score recorded is 86%. The consultant recommended 50% for cut off but cut off can’t be the same for all subjects because each subject had different number of applicants. A total of 6369 applicants scored 50% and above which represent 10% per cent pass from the pool of applicants.
While answering questions about those that scored below 30% in the CBT, Pastor Akin Alamu said they may not be considered for the next stage of recruitment which is oral interview. Pastor said the quality of teachers will go a long way in determining performance of students in schools.
Pastor Alamu while answering question about when next stage would commence said the oral interview will hold in the next one or two weeks so that successful applicants can resume in September when 2020/2021 academic session begins.
