It has been a moment for sober reflection in Oyo State since morning as the State recorded three deaths of eminent personalities that cut across theater industry, academic world and political sphere within 24hours.

The people of Oyo State received the death news of veteran nollywood, Gbolagade Akinpelu popularly called Ogun Majek as the first bitter news. He died in early hours of Thursday at his Imalefalafia, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

The Late Ogun Majek had disclosed with journalists in an interview they had with him in early April this year that he needed financial support for heart surgery he must undergo.

Ogun Majek struggled with heart disease before he finally died this early hours of today.

The Second death news flew in from Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (EACOED), Oyo. The Bursary of the College, Mr. Lukman Opasina was announced to have died two months after he celebrated his 60th birthday. This made the position of the Bursar of the College vacant.

The third death recorded in Oyo State is the death of the former Governor of the State, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi. He died at the First Cardiology Centre, Ikoyi Lagos at the age of 70 from complication of COVID-19 virus.

His death rumour had last Thursday littered the social media but his Media Aide, Tunji Bolaji denied the rumour that his boss was alive.

The immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi was reported to have been on life support machine after he slipped into a coma shortly after he had lunge surgery at the hospital.
