One of the major attributes of Governor Seyi Makinde is his rare ability to identify qualified and capable persons to work with. Virtually all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state are manned by the most dedicated set of people. Worthy of note is that the appointment of these vibrant personalities added value to the administration in regard to service delivery.
The ingenuity of Governor Seyi Makinde to proffer solutions to emerging problem identified by United Nations (UN) made him follow international standards by creating the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources immediately he was sworn-in.
Governor Makinde did not only establish the Ministry; he also appointed the best young and energetic Barrister Seun Ashamu to head the newly birthed Ministry.

In line with global practices, the mandate of the Ministry is to create affordable energy for both the public and private sectors aimed at improving living standard of the people and drive economic prosperity of the State. In addition, the Ministry is saddled with the responsibility of conducting excellent exploration of the state’s mineral resources. These objectives are in tandem with the United Nations (UN) policy to protect citizens and alleviate poverty.
The Ministry, manned by proactive and capable individuals like Hon. Temilolu Seun Asamu, has been magnanimous in its achievements. The efficient contributions of the ministry have added enough fortune to revenue generation in the state and also delivered quality services for smooth transaction of business especially in the night.
The Light Up Project is a well-thought-out policy to promote night time economic activities and reduce street criminalities to the barest minimum. Major communities in Oyo State are lit up to enjoy the night and safeguard the lives and properties of residents.

LAUTECH students will always be grateful for this immeasurable gesture that illuminate their world. A drive through the Secretariat-Agodi-Idi-Ape-Bashorun-Molete-Challenge roads has endeared many to the development projects that have hit the state capital through the Ministry.
The Ministry under Barrister Ashamu installed many transformers procured by past government without installation; communities like Molade, Aremo, Anifalaje, and Air Force Comprehensive School Ibadan have had a bit of this efficient service delivery. This young commissioner has indeed left many people in awe for his proactive efforts to improve the quality of life in the State.
The level of effective and efficient service delivery by Barr. Ashamu made him one of the most reliable allies of his excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, which made him to be reappointed by the Governor to continue with the good work he started under OmiTuntun 1.0. With such a man at the helm of affairs, the Ministry may not be lousy, but the achievements are jaw-dropping.
