Barely a month after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) suspended its eight months strike where lecturers were paid half salary for the month of October, the Federal Government on Wednesday insisted that lecturers would not be paid for work not done.
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu made the FG’s position known while briefing correspondents at the end of Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President, ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke suggesting that paying the lecturers on a pro-rata basis was a ploy by FG to lecturers casual workers.

Adamu in his response to the suggestion of Prof. Osodeke remarked nobody can University lecturers casual workers. He reiterated that government has no such plan.
He however said he was not aware that the lecturers were threatening a one-day action protest to register their displeasure with government’s action on October salary.
