Barely 14 months after Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde appointed a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi, the financial expert has formally dumped his party and defected to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Adekanmbi was appointed to Chair 11-man committee for the upgrade of Alakia Airport, Ibadan to International Airport by Gov Makinde on July 30, 2024.
Adekanmbi was the Deputy Chief of Staff to late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi and chaired the state’s revenue board before he lost his Oyo South Senatorial District ambition at the primaries election in 2019.
Hon. Adekanmbi in a letter addressed to the Chairman of APC in Ward 1, Ibadan North East Local Government didn’t disclose the reason why he dumped APC.

He copied a similar letter to the Chairman APC Ward 4, Ona-Ara LG and State Chairman APC in Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
“I hereby formally tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress, APC.
“This marks the close of a significant chapter in my political journey — one that began from the very inception of the party. Through seasons of growth and challenge, I have remained steadfast in my commitment and I am grateful for the honour to contribute, in my own way, to the service and progress of our dear State.

“Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside passionate men and women at the Ward, Local Government, State, and National levels. Together, we shared moments of purpose, built enduring bonds, and shaped collective memories that I will always hold dear. I extend my sincere good wishes to the APC and to its members, as I continue to pray for the continued growth and progress of our dearly beloved Oyo state”.
