I read with dismay, the publication in an online news platform “OyoInsight” insinuating that senator Monsurat Sunmonu is currently at loggerheads with Hon. Saheed Arowosaye over her alleged anti-party activity during the just concluded 2023 general election. While I do not hold any brief for senator Monsurat Sunmonu because I know she is well capable to address the issue when she is ready to, I consider it necessary to set the record straight because I am lucky to be in a position to give clarifications on the matter.
Senator Monsurat Sunmonu is an Amazon of Oyo state politics and any attempt to denigrate her personality will fail and will be resisted by intelligent individuals because she is a living witness to “POSITIVE RETURN ON INVESTMENT IN GIRL CHILD EDUCATION“.
Her current travails is only orchestrated by political chauvinists who are so blinded to the fact that a woman can successfully perform a leadership role.
Currently Senator Monsurat Sunmonu stands out in Oyo federal constituency and across the state. She has never feigned on her view on issues unlike some chameleons.
It is a total misrepresentation of fact that SMS as she is fondly called by her admirers bears any grudge against Hon. Saheed Arowosaye ( also fondly called Arosad) rather it is Hon Saheed Arowosaye who threw caution to the wind by insulting the distinguished senator and former speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly over her persistent insistence that transparency and accountability be adopted in the management of campaign activities, while SMS in her usual manner has forgiven him.
It is however disappointing that the said chairman could resort to engaging in cheap blackmail against an accomplished woman whose reputation as a leader whose support for the current government is never in doubt and same is well-known across the globe.
More worrisome is the fact that neither the faceless individuals nor their paymaster are able to present any evidence against SMS other than mere conjecture while it’s is on record that Distinguished Senator Monsurat sumonu engaged in extensive and all-encompassing campaign activities which she personally sponsored across the Oyo Federal constituency, despite not contesting for any office.

Where were the faceless aides of the chairman when SMS single-handedly financed the distribution of palliative to people in need and market women for the sake of the governor’s reelection.
The same SMS visited all the chiefs in Oyo town to solicited their support for the PDP candidates during the just concluded general election.
Despite the obvious efforts and roles played by Senator Monsurat Summonu, should any right-thinking individual or lover of the current government level such allegation against a performing leader like SMS? What stops the faceless individuals from also asking the following fundamental questions that SMS has been asking their pay master?
It is public knowledge that Hon Saheed Arowosaye has been holding series of meetings with the APC before the election.
° Why did AROSAD refuse to join the campaign train to the villages within Oyo east despite being the local government chairman?
° Why is Arosad angry that SMS called for an intensified campaign for the Governor’s reelection bid?
• Can Arosad justify his recent public romance with the opposition candidates when he’s fully aware of the operation to retrieve our stolen mandate launched by ENGR SEYI MAKINDE and the process is ongoing?
• Can Arosad publicly deny receiving money from one of the Opposition leaders in Oyo Federal Constituency for his Ramadan Lecture program?
° Can AROSAD deny meeting the Gubernatorial candidate of the Opposition Party before the Gubernatorial election?
° Can Arosad be exonerated from culpability in the ongoing crisis bedevilling the PDP in Oyo East L. G. A. ? which is largely attributed to his poor leadership style that has led many party stakeholders to the ‘aggrieved zone’.
Senator Monsurat Sunmonu should not be vilified for acting responsibly as a leader and I pray that the dreams of Chief Bisi Ilaka and Hon. Kamil Akinlabi come to fruition in the nearest future.
