Lagere Ode-Omu  born politician in Osun state and former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Adewale Adesiyan has declared interest to become 46th Alaafin of Oyo.

Adesiyan is a close associate of Chief Iyiola Omisore, the newly elected National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former Minister of Police Affairs in a letter addressed to Chief Baba Iyaji of Oyo, Mr. Mukaila Afonja who doubles as the Head of Princes described himself as great grandchild of Adesiyan and descendant of Atiba.

FRESHPAGE recalls that Alaafin stool became vacant after Oba A

Adesiyan said he would be bringing his wealth of experience in leadership over the years to Alaafin stool.

FRESHPAGE gathered that Baba Iyaji had earlier informed journalists that succession moves has started among interested princes from the next ruling house on who becomes next monarch.

FRESHPAGE observed that the white paper on Oyo State Chieftaincy Gazette 2001 Page 356, ii, stated that only ruling house in Oyo, Atiba house, thereby, all Atiba descendants can vie for the throne of Alaafin.
