The Students’ Representatives Council members of the Students’ Union, University of Ibadan have elected Eniola Olatoye as the Speaker of legislative arm of the institution.
Eniola represents Queen Idia Hall, at the SRC of the University. She became the second female Speaker of the House after Egunjobi Ifeoluwapo served in the same capacity for 2013/2014 academic session.
The newly elected Speaker is a 400-level student of the Faculty of Law. She polled a total number of 84 votes to defeat her only opponent Muhammed Adeniyi Adebisi of the Great Independence hall who scored 29 votes.
The election of the new leadership of the SRC was conducted at the Inaugral sitting of 9th Assembly.
The third aspirant for the position, Hon. Umar of the Abubakar Abdulsalam Hall was disqualified because he is allegedly not a “registered member of his Hall.”
