NUC Team for accreditation in University of Ibadan

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has sent a team of experts to the University of Ibadan for the accreditation of the Pharm D. and the re-accreditation of the B. Pharm programmes in the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Peter O. Olapegba received the team on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS.

Prof Olapegba, while welcoming the team, said the accreditation teams of the NUC and the universities are partners in progress in seeking the betterment of the Nigerian university system.

Prof. Olapegba noted that the NUC as a regulatory body in its oversight functions seeks to ensure that the universities keep to global best practices; that the curricula are up-to-date, and that requisite training is given to students.

He assured the visiting team that UI trains manpower for other universities at home and abroad and that it always puts the required effort into its programmes to ensure standards as laid out by the NUC and to meet global best practices.

The leader of the team, Professor Taiwo E. Alemika assured that the accreditation exercise would be according to the rules of engagement, but the team would be as fair as possible in its assessments.

Other members of the accreditation team were Professor Uchenna E. Odoh of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; and Prof. Adamu Aminu Ambi of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
