It was historic for the Lagos State University (LASU) best graduating student, Aminat Yusuf and three other Hijabite first class graduands from the Faculty of Law of the institution as Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola (De-Damak) played host of female scholars at his palatial residence in Ibadan.
Aminat Yusuf who hails from Edo State set academic record of graduating with perfect Commutative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0 at the 26th LASU convocation ceremonies.
The three other Hijabite first class graduands; Balqis Rufai with CGPA of 4.61, Maryam Lawal with CGPA of 4.57 and Modinat Olowogaba with CGPA of 4.51, all from Common and Islamic Law, Faculty of Law, LASU.
Alhaji Dawud Akinola De-Damak described them as the pride of Islam and urged them to continue raising the flag of Islam as they progress in their academic career.
After presentation of plaques for their outstanding and academic excellence, Alhaji Akinola announced a donation of Four Million Naira (N4million) to all of them while assuring them of his unwavering support as they progress in their academic career.
Ìyálóde Adinni of Yorubaland, Alhaja Sidikat Aderibigbe also donated a sum of One Million Naira (N1million) to four Hijabite scholars while Babaloja of Oyo State, Alhaji Y.K Abass pledged two bundles of clothing materials to each scholar as Iyaloja General of Oyo State, Yeye Afolashade Abeo Nurudeen promised them shoes and jewelries.
Earlier, the former Chairman, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Bayo Oyero admonished the scholars replicate the same feat in Law School. He urged them not to be carried away with their academic brilliance but to see it as stepping stones on the path of their future career. Chief Oyero congratulated the parents of the scholars and appreciated Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States for hosting and celebrating Hijabite scholars.
Deputy Governor, Oyo State, Barr AbduRaheem Bayo Lawal was ably represented by his Special Adviser on Islamic Affairs, the leadership of Islamic organisations and top Muslim personalities within and outside Oyo state were present
Other dignitaries who attended the occasion include former Deputy Governor, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, immediate past commissioner for Women Affairs in Oyo, Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola; ex-Commissioner for Women Affairs, Alhaja Fausat Sanni; Chairman Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Abiodun Aderibigbe Kamaldeen; Chairman Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, Alhaji Aare Ishak Olagunju (SAN) and Dean Faculty of Law, LASU, Prof. AbdulKareem Olatoye was represented by Alhaji AbdulAzeez Adeleke.
Distinguished academia also present at the programme were; Professor Rasheed Aderinoye and Professor Teslim Ayo Ahmed from University of Ibadan.
The Grand Imam of Oyo state and Patron of Leagueof imams And Alfas of Yorubaland, Sheikh Al-Imam AbdulGaniy AbuBakr Agbotomokekere; Chairman Oyo State Muslim Community, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni; Secretary Oyo State Muslim Community, Alhaji Murziq Siyanbola and Executive Secretary of MUSWEN, Professor Muslih Yahyah were all in attendance.
The Ameerah of FOMWAN from five states, Edo, Oyo, Osun, Ogun and Lagos with national officers of the Muslim Women organisation were in attendance, alongside representatives of Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN), Conference of All Muslim Organisations of Nigeria (CAMON), Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO), Nasrul-lahi-l- Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), Alfathu-l-Qareeb Muslim Organisation of Nigeria (QAREEB) and Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN).
