It was a joyous moment for parents, family members and well-wishers of one hundred and fourteen (114) graduands who completed memorization of glorious Qur’an from Ali Institute Qur’an Memorization.
The graduation ceremony which was held at the expansive International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan on Sunday, December 10, 2023 witnessed large turnout.
The Director of the Institute, Mallam Ali Temitope Abdussalam in his speech called on government to give appropriate recognition and support to all schools of Qur’an and Arabic Studies in the country. He described the move as the one that will assist in reducing the crimes in society and raise spiritual diet
Mallam Ali urged government to include Qur’an and Arabic studies into the curriculum of primary and secondary schools in the country. He stressed that this will go a long way in sanitizing society and produce more God-conscious citizens with less criminal minds.
While speaking how the institute started, Mallam Ali said; ‘’this is our 7th year of existence as our first class was on Friday, 14th October, 2016. The journey was not devoid of hurdles and thorns but by Allah’s mercy we are progressing and gradually achieving our aims and objectives as more than 2000 students have so far attended our Institute since inception for either part-time, full-time, short or long term programme’’.
The Director emphasized that the products of the Institute are now in different Universities around the globe like UK, US, Egypt and Cyprus studying courses like Medicine, Engineering, Nursing and Artificial Intelligence among others. Mallam Ali stressed that graduates of institute who memorized full Qur’an were appointed Imam by their University Community in Cyprus and Egypt and led congregation in the last Tarawih prayers.
‘’We hereby call on parents and guardians to avail their children the golden opportunity of learning & memorizing the Glorious Book of their Creator so as to be well grounded spiritually to navigate the complicated journey of life with the light of the Qur’an with its teachings as it is becoming glaring that giving children only Western Education without sound Qur’an knowledge and its practice is like a beautiful vehicle with faulty engine’’.
‘’We appreciate all our sponsors for their assistance and support over the years. Allah knows you all and His promise for you shall surely come to pass in both worlds. We have nothing to give you in return than prayers and we are sure Allah will continue to meet your needs and will never put you to shame.
‘’We gave scholarship to 10 indigent students in 2021 to mark our 5th year of existence, Alhamdulillah, eight (8) of them are among those who are graduating today. I also appreciate a servant of Allah who sponsored an orphan for two years to memorize the Qur’an and he’s also graduating today. May Allah reward the sponsor with paradise’’.
Mallam Ali enjoyed everyone present at the graduation ceremony to support the institute financially as it prepares to acquire more land and build more hostels for the students.
