The coast seems to be getting clearer for Senator representing Oyo south Senatorial District, Barr Sharafadeen Alli to emerge as Oyo APC consensus governorship candidate comes 2027 general elections.
FreshPage understands that Oyo APC has more 15 gubernatorial aspirants from across geo-political zones.
Punch reports that party stakeholders in a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos on Sunday queued behind the choice of Senior Chief of Ibadanland, Sharafadeen Alli as a potential Oyo APC candidate.
FreshPage recalls that President Tinubu returned to Lagos on Friday following a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom. President Tinubu reportedly spent part of his hours attending development in south-west ahead of the 2027 general elections.

One of the sources who spoke on condition of anonymity to Punch said the choice of Alli was arrived at after a prolonged discussion with the President taking into account the collective opinions of those present and the popularity of the Alli in Oyo State.
Present at the crucial meeting were Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Mr. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti and Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Dr Zaccheaus Adedeji, among top government stakeholders.
Punch source added that the choice of Alli appears to have the backing of the majority of APC stakeholders in the state as well as Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
Alli was a former Council chairman, former Secretary to the State Government and current Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District.
Multiple sources at the meeting told Punch that issues surrounding the Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, were also raised.
It was learnt that the minister does not enjoy the popularity that could make him win the Oyo governorship election against the candidate of the incumbent Governor Seyi Makinde.
It was gathered that Adelabu’s non-popularity made APC to lose in all 12 wards in Ibadan North federal constituency by-election to the candidate of PDP.
“The state chapter of the party is divided over Adelabu’s candidacy, and Alli is seen as the only aspirant acceptable to all factions,” the source added.
