Three stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Oyo State chapter, Chief Abolade Akinyemi, Engr. Kayode Arowolo and Hon. Remi Olalekan have disproved their purported defection to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
The trio of the party’s leaders in a press release jointly debunked their reported defection to PDP as wrongly promoted in the media on Monday.
According to the statement mutually signed by the chieftains, we are not part of the renouncement of the APC membership as was stage managed by few beleaguered old members of the party at an Ibadan South East Local Government elders’ meeting on the said day.
We are diehard progressive politicians and groomed through the leadership of our late late mentor, Former Governor Alhaji Lamidi Onaolapo Adesina. And, Oyo APC is the political enclave we passionately laboured to build since its formation from the amalgamation of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN with other alike in June, 2014. Hence, the current crises rocking the party can never make us renounce our ideology.
In view of the ongoing misrepresentation in the media, we found it expedient to set the record straight that we are bonafide members and the respected leaders of APC in Ibadan South East Local Government and working day and night to ensure the victory of our national leader and the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our various candidates in the coming general elections, they declared.
