The second ambition of Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde on Saturday received boost as the Traditional Heads of all family compounds in Ibadanland known as Mogajis endorsed him as their preferred candidate out of others for the March 11 governorship election.
Mogajis who spoke unanimously advised other governorship candidates in the state to wait for their time. They harped on Makinde’s patience and sacrifice paid before he was elected by good people of Oyo State in 2019.
According to the Coordinator and Spokesperson of the Ibadan Mogajis, Alhaji (Engr.) Abduljeleel Adekunle Kareem; Mogaji Adanla, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues at the press briefing around Mokola, Ibadan. He said no one changes a performer, he urged those eyeing the seat to let Governor Makinde finish second term.
Mogaji Adanla noted that Makinde has performed creditably well in the last three and half years with various physical urbanization and infrastructural development of Ibadanland urging other candidates in the guber race to allow Makinde complete all developmental projects spread across different parts of the state by the Seyi Makinde led government.
According to Mogaji Adanla and Mogaji Oloko who spoke in both Yoruba and English languages, the executive members of the Ibadan Mogajis have spoken on behalf of the expanded body compromising of all the Mogajis of Ibadanland.
They maintained that there could be no contrary position from any quarter as far as Ibadanland was concerned stressing that their positions as Mogajis was subjected through democratic processes indicating that they have full authority to speak on behalf of their various compounds in Ibadanland.
“We are here because we want to declare our endorsement for Governor Seyi Makinde who has performed excellently and creditably well to the world.
“We have even notified the vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu about our position that Ibadan and indeed Oyo state is for Seyi Makinde.” Mogaji Adanla said.
