It is no longer news that the 2019 All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu missed out among 15 names on INEC list published by Punch on Sunday.

Adelabu who recently defected to ACCORD party after he lost the 2023 guber ambition in APC to Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin at the party’s primaries.

FreshPage observed that mixed reactions surface after the camp of former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Chief Adebayo Adelabu noticed that symbol upon which they defected to ACCORD Party still missing on the INEC list.

FreshPage noticed that INEC exercises the mandate given to it by law by publishing names of all gubernatorial candidates in Oyo State. FreshPage observed that according to new electoral acts, gubernatorial candidate of any party can either emerge through primaries or party affirmation.

FreshPage recalled that Adelabu met with national leaders of the ACCORD Party in June as part of the moves to realise his gubernatorial ambition in Oyo State. If Adelabu can finalize the whole process; he still have opportunity on or before August 12, 2022 when INEC will close window for affirmation, withdrawal and replacement of candidates ahead of 2023 general elections.

The final submission will end by 18th August while final publications of all contesting political parties and their candidates for governorship will be made public by 4th October, 2022.
