The Coordinator, BSA Voice of Reason, Elder David Oluokun has reacted to the proposed plans by Governor Seyi Makinde led government to fetch University of Ibadan students’ information for Allied People’s Movement, APM, political database through Omituntun 3.0 Students’ Army scheduled to hold on the campus of the varsity.

Elder Oluokun in a statement issued on Tuesday said there is no crime in encouraging eligible young Nigerians to participate in the democratic process and exercise. He cautioned that such sensitisation should not be an avenue to fetch information of innocent students on campus to boost the political database of APM barely 99 days to general elections.
He cautioned that students of the University of Ibadan should not be misled or exploited under the guise of Omituntun 3.0 Students’ Army with PVC & Vibes programme.
Elder Oluokun reiterated that voter registration in an electoral process under the purview of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He cited that the Nigeria Data Protection Commission emphasized protection of personal data which must be better processed fairly, lawfully and transparent for specified and legitimate purposes.
Elder Oluokun urged University of Ibadan students and other young Nigerians to be vigilant, ask questions before releasing their personal information and verify voter- registration through official INEC channels.
He challenged APM to clarify the genuine purpose of collecting students’ information ahead of 2027 general elections.
