The Oyo State Government has approved the commencement of online registration for the 2025/2026 General Bursary Awards for final-year students of Oyo State origin in public higher institutions of learning across Nigeria.
The Secretary, Oyo State Scholarship Board, Mr. Niyi Akinyanju, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in his office on Monday, October 5, 2026.

Akinyanju said that, in a significant expansion of the State’s student-support programme, the Government had also approved the inclusion of final-year students of Colleges of Education in the General Bursary Awards scheme.
He explained that the category, which had previously been excluded from the bursary programme since its inception, would now formally benefit from the State’s educational financial assistance initiative.
According to him, the development represents a major expansion of the State’s bursary intervention, bringing more students across different categories of public higher institutions within the coverage of the scheme.
He added that the initiative was designed to provide additional financial support to eligible final-year students as they complete their academic programmes and meet the increased financial demands associated with their final year of study.
The Oyo State Scholarship Board, which administers the bursary programme, will release details of the online registration process, eligibility requirements, required documentation and commencement date in due course.
Prospective beneficiaries are therefore advised to monitor official communications from the Oyo State Government and the Oyo State Scholarship Board and rely exclusively on information released through authorised government channels.
The latest development underscores the commitment of the Oyo State Government to expanding access to educational support, promoting academic advancement and improving the welfare of students of Oyo State origin.
It would be recalled that earlier in the year, the State Government approved the payment of N500,000 to each law student of Oyo State origin at the Nigerian Law School, making it the highest such intervention among states in the South-West.
