The attention of the Oyo State Government has once again been drawn to the deplorable condition of the Akanran–Ilaji Road, with a passionate appeal to the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to urgently intervene and rehabilitate the important road.

The appeal was made by Mogaji Olaide Adeoye Olubodun, who expressed concern that the prolonged neglect of the road is having a negative impact on the development and economic potential of the area, particularly the Ilaji Farms & Resort, one of the notable tourism and recreational destinations in Ibadanland.
Mogaji Adeoye noted that despite the longstanding support, solidarity and goodwill demonstrated by Oloye Jubril Dotun Sanusi (JDS) towards the present administration and the development of Oyo State, it is disappointing that the road remains in its poor condition.
“It is sad, disheartening and frustrating that the Akanran–Ilaji Road has remained unfixed and unattended to for many years. This road is important not only to the people living and doing business around the area but also to the continued growth and patronage of Ilaji Farms & Resort,” he said.
He stressed that the deplorable state of the road could be undermining the full economic and tourism potential of the area, noting that improved road infrastructure would facilitate easier access, attract more visitors and contribute significantly to the rapid development of the surrounding communities.
According to him, the rehabilitation of the road should be treated as a matter of urgency, particularly given the strategic importance of the area to Ibadanland and Oyo State.
“We sincerely appeal to Governor Seyi Makinde to fix the Akanran–Ilaji Road before the expiration of this administration. There is nothing more desirable than leaving behind infrastructure that will continue to benefit the people and accelerate the development of this part of Ibadanland,” he added.
Mogaji Adeoye further maintained that addressing the road would be a significant boost to tourism, business activities, transportation and socio-economic development in the area.
He therefore called on the Oyo State Government to consider the complete rehabilitation of the Akanran–Ilaji Road as an urgent intervention and a legacy project that would be appreciated by residents, businesses, visitors and the people of Ibadanland.
“Akanran–Ilaji Road deserves urgent attention. We appeal to Governor Seyi Makinde: please fix this road for us.”
