Governor Ademola Adeleke has been elected as the Governor of Osun state for a second term under the Accord Party.

Adeleke beat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in a very tense contest.
Governor Ademola Adeleke and many others, including Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state have been responding to the victory.

I have noticed that members of the Allied People’s Movement, APM in Oyo state have been celebrating Adeleke’s victory, even more than the Accord Party in Oyo state.
Like I said, Governor Seyi Makinde had also responded to the victory of the Osun state Governor, through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
Governor Seyi Makinde described Ademola Adeleke’s election as a victory for Democracy and the teeming people of Osun state and I completely agree with him.
He was also of the opinion that Adeleke reaped the rewards for serving his people committed, through several achievements and delivery of good governance. I may also be bound to agree with him on this point also.
Governor Makinde lauded the people of Osun state for showing politicians where the power lies by voting with resolution and courage despite the violence and sheer display of Federal might.
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for doing a beautiful job, but he made no mention of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and I think, deliberately so.
I am surprised that Governor Seyi Makinde failed to commend president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for being committed to a free and fair election in Osun state, most especially, when Governor Ademola Adeleke attested to this facts in his broadcast to the people of Osun state.
For the avoidance of doubts, Governor Adeleke, in a state broadcast on Sunday, said and I quote, ” I must deeply appreciate the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a free and fair election..”.
Is it that Governor Seyi Makinde is not aware of the commendations given to the president by Governor Ademola Adeleke when he was releasing his statement or, he was simply being mischievous?
Governor Adeleke didn’t stop at his acknowledgement of the president’s fairness in Osun state, he went further to reaffirm his earlier endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Like I said, I agree completely with Governor Seyi Makinde when he said that the election of Adeleke for a second term is a victory for Democracy.
I also agree with him when he said that Adeleke reaped the rewards for serving his people committedly through several achievements and delivery of good governance but, I want to ask Governor Seyi Makinde, can he, in all honesty pray that he reaps the rewards for his actions as Governor of Oyo state in the past seven years?
Ademola Adeleke is never known for betraying those who assisted him to become what he has become today.
He is never known for quarrelling and disrespecting Obas in Osun state, in fact, he is known for treating them with utmost respect and decorum.
Adeleke is not known for selling Government assets and grabbing of the Land belonging to the citizens of Osun state.
Ademola Adeleke is not known for disrespecting the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at will.
Ademola Adeleke is not known for being irredeemably stubborn and egocentric. Is he?
Ademola Adeleke is not known for systematically killing the Osun State Broadcasting Corporations.
Ademola Adeleke is not known for disobeying court orders.
I saw the video of one clown who used to refer to Governor Seyi Makinde as “Double six” on Facebook.
He was full of confidence, claiming that what happened in Osun state will be a template for the 2027 election in Oyo state.
After listening to the funny fellow, I laughed heartily. As he was cursing, insulting and calling leaders of the APC in Oyo state all manner of names, I could smell the wads of currency that must have exchanged hands when he visited Governor Makinde last December.
I am also aware of a photograph of himself and Bimbo Adekanmbi which he posted on Facebook recently. I think the photograph was shot in the UK.
The myopic fellow must have thought that all of us in Oyo state are morons who would go ahead to vote for a Bimbo Adekanmbi who would have both Governor Seyi Makinde and an Ijesa man, Seye Famojuro as his godfathers.
Or, where was he, when Egbon Ismaila Ashipa said that Bimbo Adekanmbi is Seye Famojuro’s candidate?
He made heavy weather about Dr. Zacch Adedeji and I ask, assuming without conceding that he is correct in his allegations that the Ogbomoso born Zach Adedeji is the brain behind certain things within the APC in Oyo state, would the people of Oyo state rather be comfortable with one of their own sons against an Ijesa intruder or not?
I have said it, Governor Makinde enjoys to employ sub standard materials.
Only God knows how much he is paying to service that lilliputian of an individual.
For all intents and purposes, Governor Ademola Adeleke and Seyi Makinde are world apart and in Osun state, not only Democracy, but also, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu are the winners. Even though the APC lost and the president couldn’t have been happy about that, he however, should be given credit for being Democratic in his actions.
Contrary to what Governor Makinde and others might have been expecting, Tinubu was fair in his actions before and during the election in Osun state and the Governor of Osun state had acknowledged that fact.
It is unfortunate that the likes of Governor Seyi Makinde would refuse to give him his flowers.
Like I said, I agree with Governor Seyi Makinde that the people of Osun state rewarded Ademola Adeleke for serving his people committedly through several achievements and delivery of good governance. However, does Governor Makinde deserve the same treatment from the people of Oyo state?
How will the victims of the Circular Road corridor reward Governor Seyi Makinde and Bimbo Adekambi in 2027?
How will the people of Oyo state reward Makinde for selling off our Farm Settlements?
How will those who lost their deposits at the Agbowo Shopping Complex reward him?
How will the Staffs of the Broadcasting Corporations of Oyo state, BCOS reward him?
How will we reward him for his mismanagement of the monthly allocations for the 33 Local Governments for seven years?
How will we reward him for the humongous debts profile of the state?
How will we reward him for disrespecting our Obas over the years?
How will we reward him for unleashing Auxiliary on innocent citizens of Oyo state for more than four years?
How will the Muslim Community in Oyo state reward Bimbo Adekambi, a Christian who is attempting to succeed another Christian who has spent eight good years as Governor of Oyo state?
How will his erstwhile Deputy reward him? How?
How will those who serve Governor Seyi Makinde for eight years and yet, he found none of them suitable enough to succeed him reward him?
Oyo will not be like Osun because Adeleke is not Makinde and the people of Oyo state know this fact very well.
Governor Makinde and Bimbo Adekanmbi will carry their crosses on their own.
That is the bitter truth and if anyone wishes to keep dreaming, no problems. They will wake up from their bad dreams in 2027.
Sola Abegunde.
