Politics in Oyo State is getting noisy again. At the center of it is Bimbo Adekanmbi, the anointed candidate of Governor Seyi Makinde under the Allied People’s Movement, APM platform.
But before Mr. Adekanmbi begins to throw stones at the government of our late revered leader and architect of modern Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Oyo people deserve to ask some hard questions.
Adekanmbi was key part of the government he now criticise heavily, in fact, he held a strategic position as Commissioner for Finance under the Ajimobi administration.
That means he knew in-and-out finances of the government,. He signed memos. He defended budgets. He was part of every major policy and decision of that government.
So, today, Adekanmbi has the gut to criticize that same government. That is double-standard and height of hypocrisy from Makinde’s baby-boy.
You cannot be in the kitchen, eat the food, and later say the food was bad. If there were problems then, why didn’t he speak up as an insider? Why is he speaking now as a stooge?
Let me tell Adekanmbi if he didn’t know, he wasn’t the choice of the majority in the party he is willing to contest under in 2027, he was like and handpicked stooge of Governor Makinde who is doing everything to cover many things under his watch. That’s why the Governor’s Advisory Council members and key stakeholders of the party are leaving the party one after another.

A stooge does not have independent thought. A stooge speaks the script he is given. Oyo needs a Governor, not a puppet who will take orders from from someone.
Does Adekanmbi fit to govern Oyo State? Before anyone campaign to govern Oyo, they must account for their past. Has Adekanmbi been able to do this?
As Finance Commissioner: What was his role in the finances of Oyo from 2015-2019? Can he publish a full account of his stewardship?
Policy Responsibility:Which policies did he initiate or oppose while serving as the commissioner for finance, what’s the impact of policy he initiated or supported under late Governor Abiola Ajimobi? Why was he quiet for 8 years and suddenly became a critic only after being handpicked?
Oyo State has serious challenges — security, health, education, debt bureen, and infrastructure. We cannot hand the state to someone who has unanswered questions from his last public office.
RESPECT FOR AJIMOBI’S LEGACY
Senator Abiola Ajimobi was one of the best Governor Oyo State has produced in terms of urban renewal, security architecture, education reforms, and attracting investors to Ibadan.
You may disagree with some policies, but you cannot erase the transformation Oyo State witnessed under Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
For someone who benefited from that government to now lead attacks on it is not just disrespectful to Ajimobi’s memory, it is an insult to the millions of Oyo people who saw real progress under him.

Leadership is about integrity, consistency, and courage. Bimbo Adekanmbi failed on the three premises. He was part of the system. He has been handpicked as stooge. And he has too many unanswered questions to be trusted with Oyo’s future.
Oyo people are wise. We will not trade substance for scripted criticism. If you were part of it, you own it. If you own it, you cannot now condemn it.
Oyo deserves a Governor who stands on his own record — not one hiding behind Makinde’s shadow.
