A chieftain of the All Progressives Progress, APC, Ololade Usman Bakare has joined sons and daughters of Ibadan to console the family of Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi.
Bakare said he received the passing of Oloye Alabi, a distinguished journalist, renowned author, cultural ambassador, and one of the most respected custodians of Yoruba history and heritage, with profound sadness.
Bakare said the departure of Oloye Alabi is a monumental loss not only to his family and associates but also to Oyo State, the media profession, and the entire Yoruba nation.
“Throughout his remarkable life in media and public service, he dedicated himself to the promotion of truth, excellence in journalism, and the preservation of our rich cultural values. His contributions to the documentation of history, promotion of the Olubadan institution, and advancement of Yoruba culture remain invaluable legacies that future generations will continue to cherish.
“As a veteran journalist, he distinguished himself through professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to informing and educating society. Beyond journalism, he served as a cultural icon whose wisdom, humility, and deep knowledge earned him admiration across Nigeria and beyond.
“At this moment of grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Olubadan-in-Council, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, media practitioners, traditional institutions, and all those whose lives were touched by his exceptional service and mentorship.
“While we mourn his passing, we take solace in the enduring impact of his life’s work and the indelible footprints he left on the sands of time. May Almighty God forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and give his family, friends, and admirers the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
