Senator Yunus Akintunde has extended his warm felicitations to the government and people of Oyo State on the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the creation of the State.
In a press release made available to FRESHPAGE through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Kunle Olatunji, Senator Akintunde congratulated the Government of Oyo State, led by Engineer Seyi Abiodun Makinde, for organising a befitting anniversary and monumental celebrations that reflect the uniqueness of Oyo State as the Pace Setter State.

According to the Senator, “In the last fifty years since the creation of Oyo State, we have witnessed successive administrations, each with its own unique style of governance. Collectively, these efforts have distinguished our dear State within Nigeria’s political landscape.”

He added, “Noted for leadership and innovation, Oyo State has, at various times, positioned itself clearly as a pacesetter. This leadership distinction must be sustained.”
While reflecting on the State’s achievements, Senator Akintunde stressed the need for renewed commitment to progress. “As we reflect on our successes and the values that have placed us on the leadership edge nationally, we must not relent in sustaining these gains and advancing progressive governance in all its ramifications.”
Senator Akintunde congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde, his cabinet, members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, the Judiciary, the entire civil service, and all individuals who have served the State in various capacities over the past fifty years. He particularly commended the resilience and patriotism of the people of Oyo State, describing them as the true drivers of the State’s development.
“We must look forward with great expectations for greater heights, an improved economy, and enhanced development across all sectors of governance in the years ahead,” he said.
The Senator emphasized that achieving these aspirations would require collective effort and unity of purpose. “Our collective commitment is required to support government at all levels, irrespective of party affiliation. I am convinced that together, we have the capacity to take Oyo State to greater and more enviable heights in national development.”
He concluded by wishing the State continued progress and stability.
