In a significant boost to Ibadanland’s infrastructure, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for making the city livable through people-centered projects.
Former President Obasanjo made this commendation at the commissioning on Wednesday, 12 November, 2025 of the Ibadan Central Bus Terminal, Iwo Road, Ibadan, which has two mega bus stations constructed with waiting halls, ticket spaces, eateries, public conveniences, open vehicular parking space, an electrical power generating house, a water reservoir, elevators, and escalators, among other facilities.
This state-of-the-art facility is proof of Makinde’s commitment to transforming Ibadanland into a modern metropolis.
With its modern amenities, including waiting halls, ticket spaces, eateries and public conveniences, this terminal is set to ease transportation challenges in Ibadan, Nigeria’s third-largest city by population and largest by land area. The project is part of Governor Makinde’s broader vision to engineer a modern Oyo State, prioritising infrastructure development and citizen welfare.

As Nigeria grapples with urbanisation challenges, Makinde’s approach offers valuable lessons. He has shown that effective governance can improve the quality of life for citizens by funding people-centered initiatives.
