The federal government has appointed former Head of Department of Animal Science, Dean Of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ibadan, Prof. Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the newly established Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho.
Professor Olubunmi Olusola, Head of Department, Animal Science, University of Ibadan disclosed the appointment of the don.
Prof. Babayemi, an indigene of Okeho, is a global scholar in Animal Production, community leader who has served University of Ibadan in various capacities. He is expected to bring his wealth of experience to nurture the newly established University.
Professor Olusola said the appointment of Prof. Babayemi as well-deserved recognition of his outstanding contributions to scholarship, leadership and the advancement of agricultural education in Nigeria.
“Professor Babayemi, a distinguished member of the Department of Animal Science, University of Ibadan, has served the University community in various capacities. He was Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture some years back. An accomplished academic and mentor, he has supervised 26 doctoral candidates, eight of whom have risen to the esteemed rank of Professor across different Nigerian universities. His scholarly productivity is equally remarkable, with over 145 peer-reviewed articles published in reputable journals, reflecting his passion for knowledge creation and dissemination.
“Beyond academia, Professor Babayemi is the President of the Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP), further cementing his reputation as a leading voice in the field of Animal Science.
